China’s renewable energy landscape, with regional complexities and evolving market mechanisms, requires collaboration, local expertise, and innovative thinking. That’s why we are partnering with experts to provide guidance on how this can be achieved in key provinces.
We’ve contributed to the UNFCCC Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action China Working Group for a number of years. Through this group and the China National Textile and Apparel Council, we supported a recent study on renewable electricity procurement.
The research sought to analyse the feasibility of accessing renewable electricity for textile factories across six provinces. The study reviewed each of the five procurement types (recognised by the global renewable energy initiative RE100), their availability, policy support, investment return, and risk in each province.
The final report, published in June 2025, is a valuable reference for brands seeking to engage their Chinese suppliers on decarbonisation, and to factories in the six provinces on how best they can access renewables in the most robust manner.
